Hi all,
First off thank you for making & maintaining these forums. I thought I was out of luck when the geekbox.tv did not lead to proper site.
I did find the firmware downloads at Home -> Wiki -> Geekbox Downloads ->
Geekbox Downloads Firmware ROMs, Tools, and Schematics
direct link -> geekbox.boards.net/thread/6/geekbox-downloads-firmware-tools-schematics
Downloaded all available files here. However, I am a novice/new and this is my first real experiment with this type of task. I did see the Instructions.pdf that was in the UpgradeTool_Geekbox_v1.39 download titled "Flash Tool (english)". However I cannot get my device to be recognized. I am currently on Win10 (as I thought it would be easier in windows) but I can boot into my Ubuntu if it would be easier.
Can someone please write up a quick guide for a newbie like myself?Consider it from scratch please. Basically act like I just installed my Win10 OS.
Suggested info:
- is adb & fastboot needed prior to all?
- will "DriverAssistant_v4.3_EN" work (downloaded as "Driver (english)") or is something else needed.
- once update button & reboot pressed do i need to select an option or should my computer see the device
- is manual adb sideload the best option or has the update tool worked for anyone?
- when connected to computer geekbox show "USB device not recognized" any tips?
I am attempting to load the "Update.IMG_dualOS_Marshmallow-BOX64_Lubuntu_v170117.img" Which is the"DualOS Marshmallow Lubuntu V170117" download. The update tool opens and I can select the correct .img file, but device never is recognized/shows up.
Thank you in advance. If any more info is needed I will attempt to provide it if asked.
I am sorry for making this post but I could find no information elsewhere. Even checked XDA developers which lead me to this forum/board
